DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Police may have caught some of the people behind a rash of car break-ins across North Texas.

Last week, the windows of 18 cars were smashed at a Trinity Railway Express (TRE) station in Hurst and a nineteenth car was stolen from the location.

Now, Fort Worth police are coordinating with the Dallas Police Department and Parkland Hospital police after the stolen car was found in the hospital’s parking garage, with three men inside.

Rick Roebuck, a police lieutenant at Parkland Hospital, said the suspects had tried to mask the stolen Honda SUV.

“The individuals had swapped out the license plate on it as well, but we were able to identify it as a stolen vehicle from the TRE in Hurst,” he said.

Officers soon came across a cache of goods when they looked inside the vehicle.

“They noticed all of the items in the car, which were suspicious, and identified them and found some other cars broken into in the garage,” explained Roebuck. “It was stacked floor-to-roof… purses, to radios, to guitars, to luggage, other personal items, credit cards, wallets, whole nine yards.”

Police believe the same men also broke into cars at the World Trade Center in Dallas and a nearby DART Park and Ride.

Right now, police are working to get the stolen property back to the rightful owners.
